United Engravers Wins FPPA 2010 Sustainability Award
By increasing print plate size output, Schaumburg, Ill.-based print plate manufacturer, United Engravers, Inc. has received increased interest from customers. United purchased a MacDermid 52in. by 110in. dual manifold liquid-photopolymer system last year in an effort to increase plate output size - the largest of its kind in the world. The machine is reserved primarily for I-plates, also known as in-position plates, which promote an environmental product by using less photopolymer.
Large print plate production is due in part to United's EskoArtwork Gigasetter film imagesetter, which yields films as large as 96.5 x 63.5-in. Designed for high-volume production, the Gigasetter is an integral part of the increasing size in the plate manufacturing process.
